"What the hell did you do!?!" I shout."What? You don't like it?" Adam says in an offended tone."NO! You look stupid." I say, reaching out touch his head, running my fingers over his scalp."Whatever." He smirks. "You know I look hella hot. You're just jealous.""Jealous because I want my head completely shaven like yours? I don't thinks so. Now move." He moved so I could open my locker. He leaned against the lockers next to mine.I open my locker and started to exchange books. I stop when Adam says, "So, whats wrong with you?"I look at him with eyebrows raised. "What?""Ian said there was something wrong with you. That you were crying, or something."Surprisingly, Adam had a series face and looked sincere."Ian told you that?""Don't change the subject.""Who said I was changing the subject?""Lily! Why were you crying? The only time I ever seen you cry was the day you left. You don't really cry." He says."Adam I don't want to talk about." I say quietly."Too bad. Talk.""Adam! Stop being a dick!" I cried, quickly wiping away a tear that fell from my eye. I don't want talk or think about it.Closing my locker, I ignore Adam, but from the corner of my eye I see him staring at me with wide eyes. "Lil." He says softly. "I'm sorry. Don't cry." He grabs my arms and turns me to face him. "I hate it when girls cry.""I'm not crying." I mumble."Yes. You are. Hey. Look at me." When I don't look up at him he continues to say, "I'm sorry. I'm a dick. Big dick. I deserve to rot in hell for my dickie-ness. With the devil. With Hitler. With...um, Micheal Jackson."I look up at him. "If there is a hell, Micheal Jackson wouldn't be in it."I look up at him. "If there is a hell, Micheal Jackson wouldn't be in it."Adam's eyes get even bigger and he lets go of my arms to point his index finger at me. "Yeah he would! I know he sold his soul to the devil for his fame!"I chuckle. "Just shut up Adam."He smiled. "Ha! I got you to laugh."I don't understand something. Why in the world would Ian tell Adam anything about me. I thought they didn't even talk to each other."I'm gonna go. I'm gonna be late to class.""Okay. See you later Lily."The next two classes were fun because I decided to sit next to Katie. I didn't even realize we had basically all of the same classes together. We talked quietly through the classes, and got reprimanded by the teacher for not paying attention. When I went to Drama, I did a double take. Ian and David are sitting next to each other, and look like they're in the middle of an awkward conversation. When they notice me they both look relived. I sit next to Ian."Hey." It comes out more of a question than a greeting. "Whats going on?""Nothing. We were just talking. You know? Cause' that's what friends do." Ian said trying to be nonchalant about it. David narrowed his eyes on Ian before rolling his eyes and focusing on me. "What he means is we're trying to be friends."I think about this for a few seconds.Ian looks at me expectantly. "Well?" He says."Are you also trying to be friends with Adam?"His eyebrows scrunched. "Why?"And that explains why Ian was telling Adam about me. "Never mind." I say. They exchanged glances and looked at me suspiciously."Well?" Ian asks changing his expression to an expectant one.I knew Ian was just trying to be nice but I can't help but feel slightly peeved that he shared my...uh situation with Adam and probably with David and Carter too."Um did you learn the assigned monolouge?" I ask to change the subject. The rest of the period went okay. David and Ian tried very hard to act like they were best friends. I didn't work out to well. I mean, they weren't stiff like last week. They were more awkward than anything. When class ended I waved bye to them, and bolted to avoid witnessing their awkward attempts at saying goodbye. After school, I drive to a diner. It's on small side and mostly empty. An older looking lady with gray hair sits behind the cash register. She looks up from her cooking magazine when the bell on the door rings from me opening it. She gives me a smile and says "Hello dear. Can I get you anything?"I smile back and nod. "What kind of soup do you have?""Well today we have cream of potato, and chicken noodle.""Great. Can I have chicken noodle to go please?""Sure thing." She turns in her seat and shouts into the kitchen that behind her. "Callum!" she shouts.I jump at the force of her voice. She seemed to transform from a sweet lady to angry boss. "Callum!" She shouts again. I realize the name she's shouting and wonder if it's my Callum, since its not exactly a common name."Callum!" She tries again. The other people in the diner look at her like she's crazy. She turns to me, switching to her sweet lady voice mode, and saying "Jiminy Crickets,I swear, that boy is gon' be the death of me." I smile and turn around and pretend like I'm looking around at the pictures hanging in the diner. What I'm really doing is trying to cover up my laughter. Who says Jiminy Crickets? Then I hear a familiar voice say, " Yes Grace?"Sure enough there is Ian's brother. He's looks irritated, and is in white pants and a plain white t-shirt that is deliciously tight on his biceps. Wait a minute. I remember Ian saying that Callum is a chef in a diner."Where have you been!? We need a container of chicken noodle soup to go." The lady tells Callum. "Grace, I was taking out the trash like you told me too.""Well I didn't tell you to take a year to do it! Now hurry! We have a costumer waiting."His eyes go to me a smile spreads on his face. " Hey Lily!""H-hey. Callum." I say giving him a lame wave."You're ordering soup?" He asks curiosly. "Uh-huh." Don't make a fool of yourself Lily. "Soup? In nintey degree weather?" He asks."Oh, its not for me. Um, I'm taking it to Carter. He's sick." I explain."Oh." He smiles at me and I lean on the counter for support. That smile is just too damn sexy. "Thats nice of you."I nod, not knowing what else to say. I look down at the counter. When I look up I see Callum staring at me."For pete's sake! Will you stop staring at the girl and get her her soup!" The lady, Grace says. His cheeks turn slightly pink, but I'm pretty sure mine are extremely red.Callum goes back into the kitchen, and I take a seat on the stool at the counter. "You know that boy?" Grace asks me.I nod. "I've known him since I was a little girl.""Hmm." She nodded in an understanding way, and walks into the kitchen.I pulled out my phone to text Carter. I tell him I'm coming over, but he doesn't respond. After a few more minutes, Grace comes out from the kitchen with a tall styrofom container.I pay for the soup and stand their for a second trying to catch a glimpse of Callum in the kitchen. I at least want to say bye. When I don't see him I turn and head out the door. I'm about to open the door to my car when I hear my name. "Lily!"I look behind me to see Callum just come out of the diner."Yeah?"He gives me that sexy smile and says, "I was wondering if you would want to go out sometime?"I will be honest now. I have imagined this moment so many times. Although when I imagined it, it was it little more fairy-tale like. Anyway, the point is that I want to scream 'HELL YES' to his question, but I'm gonna try and keep cool."Callum. Are you asking me out on a date?""Yeah. I am." He says confidently."Wow. You sound so confident. What if I say no?" I say with a smirk on my face. Oh my god. I'm flirting with Callum! I stay cool even though I feel like hyperventilating right now. "Well, I heard that you had a crush on me, and I guess I'm just hoping that you still do."Instantly my cool demeanor faded, and my widened eyes appeared. "Who told you that?" I practically shout.Callum's smile widens, and his arms fold. "Ian told me a long time ago." he drags out the 'O'. You know, for such a sweet guy, Ian has a big mouth. "So it's true then? You had a crush on me?""Maybe." I say try regain my cool but my burning cheeks probably give me away.He chuckles, and I look away. Ugh! When I see Ian, he is so gonna pay."So...back to the original question. Will you go out with me...on a date?"I think again about all the ways I imagined the moment Callum would ask me on a date. One way was that he would accidentally bump into each other. He would fall backwards, and with me on top of him. Then he'd really see me, even stare into my eyes for a couple seconds. He'd help me up then we'd talk. That's when he'd ask me out. When we separate, he wouldn't want to leave me... Shit. I'm am the lamest person in the world. Pretty creepy too, right?I realize I've been thinking way too long. Callum's smile begins to fade. "You don't want to. I'm sorry." He looks down at the cement. "I shouldn't have wasted your time. God. You probably have a boyfriend don't you.""What? No! I'm sorry. I mean-I didn't-" I take a deep breath. "Callum, I don't have a boyfriend, and I would love to go on a date with you."He looks up from the floor, with The Sexy Smile on his face. "Oh. Huh. I was so confident going into that, but I admit I completely lost it when you didn't answer right away.""Sorry. Do you have your confidence back?""Sure do." He replies.I laugh. "That's good.""Can I get your number?" He pulls out his phone, and hands it to me. I put in my number. Instead of putting my name I put I decided to be bold and put 'That Girl Who Has A Crush On Me'. I hand him back the phone. He looks at his screen. His face break out into a grin, and he slowly lifts his head from the screen."I just text you so you have my number."Dear cheeks, don't change color on me now! Before he can say anything else, I speak. "I better go get this soup to Carter." I lift the container."Yeah. Okay. See you soon Lily.""Bye."He turns and goes into the diner. I get in the car, finally allowing myself to grin like an idiot."Hello Mrs. Nelson! It's so good to see you!" I say to Carter's mom.She looks at me confused. "I'm sorry, but who are you?""I'm Lily...Carter and I were friends when we were smaller." Finally her face lights up with recognition, and her eyes widen."Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry Lily! I didn't recognize you!" She crushes me in a hug. When she pulls away she steps aside to let me through the doorway. "Come in, come in!" She says excitedly.I go inside. She shuts the door behind me. When she looks back at me her eyes sweep my entire body."Oh Lily! You are so gorgeous! Look at you!"My cheeks color. "Thanks.""How long have you been back?" She asks."About a week.""A week! And until now you come and see me! Does Carter know you're here?"I nod. "Carter and I have hung out almost everyday after school." I explain."Oh that boy! He didn't tell me anything about you being here.""Can I see him? I know he's sick so I brought him soup.""Oh how sweet." She takes the container from me. "I'll put it in a bowl. You can go on ahead to his room. It's where in the same spot."Okay then." Carter's mom is extremely sweet. When I was small, I always wished she was my mom. Then again, I also wished Grams was my mom too. Sometimes I just wished for a better mom, period.I walk to Carter's room and knock on the door."Come in." His voice is raspy. When I open his door I find him lying in bed with his eyes narrowed in me. "Lily, what are you doing here?""Carter. You look like crap.""Oh. I see. You're here to make me feel better." He replies sarcastically.I chuckle. "Sorry." I sit next to him on the bed and look at his t.v.. "Your watching cartoons?" I ask amused."It's SpongeBob. Everyone loves SpongeBob.""Whatever you say.""You ca-" He cuts off to loudly sneeze into his elbow. He then holds his hand to his nose while using his free hand to reach for a tissue on his nightstand. He blows his nose, lets out a sigh."Lily. Why are you here? I'm gonna get you sick.""No you're not. I never get sick. Oh, and I got you soup. Your mom's putting it in a bowl."" Thanks. I bet mom was happy to see you." He smiles."Yeah. I guess she was."He sneezes again. I scoot closer, and rest a hand on his forehead. "Shit, Carter! Your burning up!""Yeah." He replies lamely. He closes his eyes, and lays his hand on top of mine. My hand tingles, and I suddenly get deja vu. I don't understand."Alright then! I've got a special bowl of soup for a very special boy." Ian's mom says as she enters the room. I pull my hand away, and laugh at her words."Mom, please." Carter says. His mom looks at him innocently. "What? You are special. Isn't he special Lily?" She asks me in a teasing tone."Of coarse! I mean, depending on your definition of special."She laughs, hands Carter the bowl, and walks out of the room."Thanks for the soup." He gives me a smile."No problem. You need to get better though. I missed you.""Really?" He asks."Well, yeah." I say in a 'duh' voice."Why?" He asks curiously.I give him a confused look. "What do you mean why? Your my best friend."He looks down at his soup, stirring it with his spoon."Do you really like hanging with me?""Carter! Of course I do! What makes you think I don't like hanging out with you?""Well, I'm not exactly the most talkative, and I'm not really fun to be around. Have you noticed whenever we're together, we're usually silent? I'm kind of boring." He responds.I take the bowl from his hands, and put it on the his nightstand. I take his hands in mine. The tingling feeling is there, but I'm choosing to ignore it."Carter. Okay, true, we don't have crazy fun times together, but I like when we're together. We...your right. We are silent. But I love it." I gives him a smile. "How often can you be completely silent with another person and not feel a trace of awkward. You're not boring, and enjoy our silence. It's relaxing...and comfortable."Carter's face breaks out into a full blown smile. He looks down at our hands. My eyes follow his, and I let go of his hands. I allow my eyes to scan the bed. "Where's the remote? I can't hear SpongeBob."_^_^_^_^_^_^_Sooo...Comment, like, send a friend request, and comment again. :)I am soooooo excited for chapter 11!
